You Lie!

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Perhaps Congressman Wilson’s behavior last week was inappropriate for the venue, but he was right. President Obama is still lying about the Democrats’ health care bill.

Here’s what Obama said, which prompted Wilson’s outburst:

“There are also those who claim our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This too is false. The reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.”

Then why did Senators working on the legislation have to make additional changes to the proposal two days later? If Wilson hadn’t drawn so much attention to the issue, the democrats would have been able to include loopholes for illegal immigrants.

Furthermore, here’s what Obama said this Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute:

“Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don’t simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken. That’s why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else. [...] If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all.”

Hmm… Sounds like amnesty. No illegals will be covered, but their won’t be any illegals! This is being completely deceitful. If Americans don’t want illegal immigrants to be covered by tax-payer funded health insurance, why would Americans want illegals to receive amnesty and then be covered by taxpayer-funded health insurance? Such is the logic of liberals.

Vote for Pedro?

Obama will be working to legalize all illegal aliens this year. This will give 12 million illegals an equal opportunity to pursue American jobs, and at a time when we already have millions of Americans looking for jobs. Is this his solution to the economic crisis?

Merely talking about this issue will probably create a huge influx of illegal immigration, making the situation worse than projected. Not only will Obama’s plan make it harder for Americans to find a job, but it will also cause lower wages. Between 1980 and 2000, illegal immigration reduced the annual earnings of US-born workers by an average of 4 percent.

Government expenditures will be an even bigger problem if aliens are legalized. Since illegal immigrants are generally among the lowest wage earners, they will be paying few taxes, if any. Yet they will receive all the benefits of US citizens: social security, health care, public education, and welfare. Not to mention the Obama “tax cuts” for people who don’t pay taxes. Legalizing aliens will be a huge drain on our economy (on top of Obama’s budgeted $9.3 trillion deficit).

And shouldn’t we consider the many individuals who have been waiting years to get into the United States legally? Since when do we reward those who violate the law?
