Liberal Intolerance
Thousands of liberal Twitter users are shocked and disgusted by racism on the Landover Baptist Church website.
But Landover Baptist isn’t a real church. It was created by liberal activists to make Christians appear racist. Meanwhile, liberal masses lack the intellectual capacity to realize the website is a hoax. This page has been widely discussed throughout the liberal blogosphere because many liberal pea-brains think Landover is a real church.
Don’t liberals preach tolerance? Is it tolerant to mock a religion, even to the point of slander and intentional misrepresentation? It’s hard to understand how libel fits into the definition of tolerance.
Therein lies the hypocrisy of liberalism. You see, liberals have changed the definition of tolerance to better suit their agenda. It’s perfectly fine to believe whatever you want, so long as you believe exactly what they believe. Liberals say tolerance is accepting other beliefs as true; merely respecting alternate belief systems, to liberals, is another degree of intolerance. And if you refuse to uphold this liberal dogma then you are a heartless bigot that deserves to be ridiculed.
In reality, liberals are often some of the most hateful and intolerant people on the face of this earth.

It’s not that our liberal friends aren’t equipped with the intellectual capacity to discern a hoax from the truth. They lack experience with the real thing, so they are unable to identify a counterfeit. This satire is really pretty effective on its intended audience, using all the weapons of the enemy’s arsenal, including scriptural references…out of context, of course, to portray Christianity as a bastion of buffoonery, weakness and intolerance. Baptists in particular can a pretty big target for these attacks, especially with help from folks like the Westboro Church in KS, which has about as much credibility as Landover.
The Bible warns throughout against mocking God, but we see example after example of how people rejected and scorned the prophets, killed His Son and persecuted His Church. So why should Christians expect anything different today? But the apostle Paul documents what they have to look forward to in his second letter to the Church in Thessalonica (New Living Translation):
2 Thess. 1:5 And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering. 6 In his justice he will pay back those who persecute you.
7 And God will provide rest for you who are being persecuted and also for us when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven. He will come with his mighty angels, 8 in flaming fire, bringing judgment on those who don’t know God and on those who refuse to obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus.

Actually Landover Baptist is a well known comedy site that uses Poe’s Law for humor. It was set up to mock extreme fundamentalist southern baptist churches. Can you show me where anyone of note in the liberal blogosphere is having a such a fit?

Actually, you’re a bigot if you find it humorous to mock someone’s religion.
From what I’ve seen, liberals fall into one of two groups: the morons who fail to realize the site is mocking religion, and the bigots who find it humorous to do so. Liberals are anything but tolerant and that was my point.
The libs who mock Christianity on Daily Kos and understand Landover Baptist are no better than the libs who are silly enough to mistake it for a real church. By the way, Poe’s Law would be more accurately described as a theory, and even more accurately described as an incorrect theory. People think Landover Baptist is real because they’re ignorant and have no idea what fundamentalists really believe. In reality, even extreme fundamentalism couldn’t be farther from how it’s portrayed on Landover Baptist. It’s not even close, it’s just a lie.

Who, exactly, outside of one or two posters on blogs, thinks it’s real? Landover has been around for years. You do indeed on occasion see some idiot link to it, shrieking “oh no, have you seen this?” and they are usually shut down quickly.

Regardless of how Landover is received, the intent is to mock Christianity. The fact that many liberals receive this mockery as acceptable humor is more disturbing than the fact that some liberals mistake it for reality – that is the point, as I have already explicitly stated.
Many liberals even take it a step further than sanctioning mockery, as they themselves will mock worldviews that deviate from their own. This has become increasingly common within the liberal community, whether it occurs through propagating material from Landover and other sources, openly mocking various faiths, or just by maintaining an insolent attitude toward certain worldviews (as exhibited by Devlin, who derisively refers to religion as “after-life dogma cults”).
The escalating pervasiveness of this behavior suggests a paradigm shift within popular liberal ideology: to liberals, it has become socially acceptable to mock religion, especially Christianity. It’s perfectly natural for the beliefs of another person to seem strange, but when you consider it acceptable to mock these worldviews because they are different, you have then become intolerant, at least by classic definition of the term.
The large number of liberals who mistake Landover for a real church site was just an impression I gathered from Twitter. The response to the Michelle Obama article was particularly noteworthy, as disdainful comments about how “Christian kids are raised to think black people are ugly” resounded on twitter and associated blog posts. I also think it’s incorrect to assume these people are always shut down. One of the threads on Drudge Retort discussing a Landover article, for example, contained a number of users that thought it was a legitimate site. Those who knew about the site felt it was humorous to lead them on. If I hadn’t left a comment about the authenticity of the site, I’m not sure anyone would have. But your persistence in attacking this aspect of the post certainly exemplifies the classic liberal strategy of evading the issue at hand by igniting tangential, superficial arguments.
