Vote for Pedro?

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

Obama will be working to legalize all illegal aliens this year. This will give 12 million illegals an equal opportunity to pursue American jobs, and at a time when we already have millions of Americans looking for jobs. Is this his solution to the economic crisis?

Merely talking about this issue will probably create a huge influx of illegal immigration, making the situation worse than projected. Not only will Obama’s plan make it harder for Americans to find a job, but it will also cause lower wages. Between 1980 and 2000, illegal immigration reduced the annual earnings of US-born workers by an average of 4 percent.

Government expenditures will be an even bigger problem if aliens are legalized. Since illegal immigrants are generally among the lowest wage earners, they will be paying few taxes, if any. Yet they will receive all the benefits of US citizens: social security, health care, public education, and welfare. Not to mention the Obama “tax cuts” for people who don’t pay taxes. Legalizing aliens will be a huge drain on our economy (on top of Obama’s budgeted $9.3 trillion deficit).

And shouldn’t we consider the many individuals who have been waiting years to get into the United States legally? Since when do we reward those who violate the law?

Obama Also Insults the UK

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

The United States isn’t the only country that President Obama has been insulting. He also recently insulted the UK, one of our closest allies. Maybe Obama should speak for himself when he calls Americans “arrogant.”

In a customary gift exchange, Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave Obama a pen holder fashioned from the anti-slavery ship HMS Gannet, a framed commissioning paper from the HMS Resolute (the Resolute desk is in the Oval Office), and a first edition biography of Winston Churchill. Needless to say, these are all priceless gifts.

What did Obama give to Brown? A box of 25 American DVDs. And they were region 1 encoded so Brown won’t even be able to play them on his DVD player in the UK! Traditionally, such gift exchanges are thoughtful, but the amount of thought that went into this gift is embarrasing.

Obama gave Brown a very nice bust of Winston Churchill as well.. which was originally given to the United States from the UK on 9/11 as a symbol of unity. And Obama gave it back! This isn’t a Seinfeld script, it really happened!

Obama also gave the Queen of England an iPod. She already had one.

Obama Insults the U.S.

President Obama’s performance at the G-20 summit was disappointing, to say the least. After making major concessions, he managed to get a total of $1 trillion in pledges from 20 countries to stimulate the global economy - less than we have already spent to stimulate our own economy. This figure includes what some countries have already budgeted for stimulus. Most of the money will go to the IMF, meaning countries with deficient fiscial policies will just get money to carry on their deficient fiscal policies.

By the way, this is all printed money which will soon be causing inflation. Oh, and the spending will take place over the next five years. In summary, the G-20 summit was just a giant PR conference, the effects of which have already begun to wear off.

Meanwhile, Obama has been touring Europe to express his disappointment in the United States. In Strasbourg this week, he told an audience that Americans are “arrogant.” He also said that Americans have exhibited a “failure to appreciate Europe’s leading place in the world.”

Who is he trying to impress? The anti-capitalist, anti-globalization protesters in Strasbourg burned down two hotels this weekend. Is this who Obama wants on our side? Do we really want to adopt - or assimilate in any fashion - the ideals of murderous arsonists and anarchists? The anti-capitalist protesters at the G-20 summit were throwing bricks through windows, beating innocent people, and tossing marbles on the streets to maim policemen and their horses. Such exemplary behavior is clearly representative of their esteemed values, and in concordance, a true utopia manifested.

The only thing that many Americans have failed to appreciate is the hard work that has gone into building this country and the many efforts that have ensured the freedoms and liberties we enjoy on a daily basis. And it is our President who has failed to appreciate what it means to be an American. Instead he feels shame for our country… 20 years in Reverend Wright’s pews apparently had quite an effect on him.

Well, I guess now our chickens have come home to roost.
